Who are we?
Established in 1878, Alton Cycling Club (Alton CC) has about 100 members. We’re a friendly cycling club based in Alton, Hampshire and we have many members from Alton’s surrounding villages too. Our aim is to offer a cycling club that promotes fun, safety, group riding etiquette and personal development.
To provide the best experience for club members, we have a number of volunteers who give up their time to form a Committee, to perform non-committee roles and to act as Ride Leaders. Let us know if you would like to volunteer.
Group Rides
Want to join us for future group cycling rides? Here at Alton Cycling Club, we encourage local cyclists to join our Hampshire rides. Discover our upcoming rides on the rides page. You can find out the route, expected coffee stop and named ride leader. We welcome new riders, so all you need to do is let us know in advance that you’re coming along to our local group cycling rides and which of our rides you’ll be joining.
Segment of the Month Competition
We continue to host this popular competition at Alton Cycling Club, open to all members. Each month between April and October, a different Strava segment is selected. Whoever records the fastest adjusted time (male and female) over the segment is the stage winner. The results are updated monthly on the Segment Challenge page. To enter you need to register using this form. You can read the full competition rules here and find out more about Strava in this introductory guide.
Audax Event
On 6th July 2025, Alton CC supported a fourth Audax event in memory of our club member, Jim Woods, who tragically died of a brain tumour in 2020. This follows the success of the 2022, 2023 and 2024 events, which together have raised over £3,700. The 2026 Jim Woods Memorial Ride will take place on 12th July, more details to follow next year. Details of the charity brainstrust can be found here.
